Planners holding an event in one of Washington's many scenic cities have a lot to look forward to. Here's a run-down of new and upcoming developments in some of the state's most popular meeting destinations.
Seattle Area
The 1,260-room Hyatt Regency Seattle, which features more than 100,000 square feet of flexible meeting and ballroom space, opened in December 2018 just two blocks north of the existing Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) and adjacent to an additional convention center facility currently under construction.
The additional WSCC facility called the Summit broke ground in August 2018 and is projected to open in 2022. The development will include up to 255,000 square feet of heavy-load exhibit space on two levels, 120,000 square feet of meeting rooms, a full-service kitchen and 60,000 square feet of ballroom, freight loading and support space.
Sheraton Grand Seattle Hotel, located within blocks of WSCC, completed a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2018 including updates to its 1,236 guest rooms, 75,000 square feet of event space and public areas.
Hotel Interurban opened last year in Tukwila within close proximity to the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The property has 185 guest rooms and more than 15,000 square feet of meeting/event space.
Hilton Garden Inn Seattle Bellevue Downtown opened last year in Bellevue with 254 guest rooms and meeting space for up to 100 people.
Snohomish County
Hotel Indigo Everett - Waterfront Place is scheduled to open this fall with 142 guest rooms and 6,800 square feet of meeting space, including a 3,200-square-foot ballroom.
Vancouver
The first phase of the $1.5 billion Waterfront development opened in September 2018. Phase one included two new riverside restaurants, a park and a pier.
Based in Goldendale, Maryhill Winery opened a nearly 5,000-square-foot tasting room at the Waterfront in April, and the site has plans to open Hotel Indigo and AC Marriott properties.
Tacoma
The Marriott Greater Tacoma Convention Center Hotel, connected to the Greater Tacoma Convention Center, is expected to open in spring 2020 with 304 guest rooms, a 10,000-square-foot ballroom and 9,000 square feet of breakout space.
Silver Cloud Hotel Point Ruston Waterfront is scheduled for completion in May 2020. Features of the new property include 194 guest rooms, a 5,400-square-foot grand ballroom and an outdoor terrace.
