Convene opened its first location within Washington, D.C., proper at Terrell Place. The space is Convene’s third location in the D.C. metro area and its first to feature its flexible workspace offering, Workplace, with 19 worksuites totaling 431 workstations.
Convene’s space in Terrell Place is spread across the building’s lower three floors, occupying over 72,000 square feet.
The space features a private entrance into the building for Convene guests and members; a large-scale reactive media wall on its main lobby walls and corridor; on-demand meeting and event spaces; in-building community programing; and farm-to-table culinary offerings from Convene’s Executive Chef.
Additionally, Convene guests and members will have access to the building’s recently renovated roof deck and a private rentable rooftop cabana with space for up to 25 people.

Built in 1925, Terrell Place was once known as the Hecht Building—the city’s oldest department store. In 2003, the building was renamed in honor of the civil rights leader, Mary Church Terrell, who was one of the driving forces behind desegregation and women’s suffrage in Washington, D.C.
Today, the building is a combination of the original Hecht Building and several row homes, something Convene’s design team paid homage to when designing the space.
