Las Vegas’ largest tradeshow, CES, plans to return to the city January 6-9, 2021.Produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the 2021 event will be held in person, and a “wider selection” of content will be available virtually.
“For CES 2021, we will continue to expand the show’s digital reach,” according to a statement on CES’ website. “You can expect to see a wider selection of livestreamed CES content, along with many other engaging digital and virtual opportunities, enabling you to connect with the world’s leading technology innovators, thought leaders and policymakers. We will showcase our exhibitors’ products, technology breakthroughs and ideas to the world, both physically in Las Vegas and digitally.”

CTA said it is working closely with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and Las Vegas hotels, several of which plan to reopen Thursday, June 4.
“We will ensure our plans follow the recommendations of public health experts and standards set by the federal, state and local governments,” according to the CES statement.
New protocols for CES 2021 include:
- Regular cleanings and sanitizations across the show venues.
- Widening aisles in many exhibit areas.
- Providing more space between seats in conference programs and other areas where attendees congregate.
- Issuing best practices for attendees, including wearing masks and avoiding shaking hands.
- Implementing cashless systems for purchases and transactions.
- Exploring the use of thermal screenings at key venue entry points.
- Providing enhanced on-site access to health service and medical aid.
CTA said it will continue to evaluate and update its health and safety plans. The 2021 event will also include content that will “help provide solutions for some of the day-to-day challenges created by the pandemic.”
CES, held in the Las Vegas Convention Center, showcases new products and technology for consumer electronics. In 2019, the tech event drew more than 175,000 attendees.
