A familiar face in the Atlantic City tourism and hospitality scene has taken the top spot at Meet AC, as the destination named industry veteran Larry Sieg as its new president and CEO.
Sieg replaces Jim Wood, who stepped down from the post at the end of 2019. Sieg currently serves as the director of communications and marketing for New Jersey’s Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), which assumed much of the assets and responsibilities of the now-dissolved Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority (ACCVA).
"Being someone who lives, works and plays in Atlantic City, I understand it has always been a place of great importance regionally,” Sieg said in a press release. "I look forward to the challenge we face as we settle into a new normal and have our destination be top of mind for meeting planners throughout the country.”
Sieg will start his new position July 13.
“We are excited to welcome Larry to Meet AC,” said Meet AC Board Chairman Matt Doherty in a press release. “Larry brings almost 30 years of work experience in the tourism, sales and hospitality industry, and will be proactive in promoting Atlantic City as a premier destination for meetings, conventions and leisure group travel.”
Sieg joined the ACCVA in 1998 and ascended through the ranks to the position of vice president of marketing. While there, he oversaw the construction and opening of the Atlantic City Visitor Welcome Center.
In his current position at CRDA, Sieg manages initiatives for communications, marketing, graphic communications, visitor services, marketing partnerships, digital marketing and events management. He’s also served on committees and as an officer for many organizations, including Destinations International, Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations (ESTO), American Bus Association (ABA), Historic Organ Restoration Committee, the Greater Atlantic City Chamber and the Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance.
In the fall of 2019, Meet AC revealed that Wood would step down as president and CEO to take care of his wife, who had suffered a severe fall earlier that year. To find his replacement, Meet AC said at the time that its Board of Directors would conduct a national search for his replacement.
