Many in the meetings and events world will gather online Sunday, August 15 to celebrate the life of Elizabeth Glau, a digital meetings and social media events pioneer and advocate for industry ethics via her Event Integrity Facebook group.
“Being a longtime industry colleague and friend of Elizabeth, it is an honor for me to design and produce this online celebration of life for someone who did so much for the meetings and events industry—especially in the realm of social media and online meetings,” said John Chen, CEO of teambuilding and online meetings company Geoteaming and author of Engaging Virtual Meetings. “Elizabeth saw this virtual world years ago. Come see what she dreamt about.”

The celebration of life, hosted by Eventbrite, will run from 4-5:30 EDT, and organizers welcome Glau’s colleagues and friends to participate by accessing https://celebratingelizabethglau.eventbrite.com. In tribute to Elizabeth, organizers suggest participants wear purple, and if so inclined, come equipped with a tequila and squirt cocktail, Elizabeth’s favorite drink, which she dubbed “The Glau.”
