Skanska USA, a leading construction and development firm, announced the completion of Tampa Convention Center’s expansion and renovation.
This $38 million expansion holds the title of the largest renovation that the Tampa Convention Center has ever received in over 30 years of operations. This expansion added 23,500 square feet of space and new waterfront rooms and outdoor terrace space that add up to a total of 18,000 square feet.

“The city of Tampa is a world-class destination deserving of an upgraded convention center that complements its economic and population growth,” said Chuck Jablon, senior vice president of construction for Skanska's Florida building operations, in a statement. “By executing the modernization of the Tampa Convention Center, Skanska is proud to have played a part in bringing that vision to life and delivering a project that will provide long-term economic value for the community.”
This renovation was done in an effort to better accommodate larger conferences and conventions in the Tampa Bay region. It included ramps to comply with the Americans with Disability Act, a metal canopy ceiling and new column wraps. This renovation also included an LED multi-color display on new signs. Its HVAC system was also upgraded, with a total of 20 units being rebuilt or added to the building.
