7 Newport Beach Teambuilding Options by Land, Sea and Air

Southern California’s idyllic Newport Beach, situated on a stretch of Orange County Coast that boasts some of the most iconic beaches in the U.S., is blessed with a reliably sunny, moderate climate tempered by the Pacific Ocean, making it an ideal location for teambuilding programs before, during or after meetings.

Indeed, groups can go from “Sea Level to Next Level,” utilizing the destination’s beautiful beaches and harbor, or venture inland for land-based options. The sky is also the limit, as groups can tap programs that take flight or celebrate a massive collection of classic American aircraft.

Following are some top Newport Beach teambuilding activities, whether by land, sea or air, recommended by Visit Newport Beach.

Newport Fun Tours

There’s no better way to dive into Newport Beach’s nautical culture than to rent a fleet of electric Duffy Boats. These “floating limousines” are easy to handle and are great for team scavenger hunt activities or a favorite local dining tradition: “Dock and dine.” Simply float up to local restaurants with customer docks and either enjoy a dockside meal or take your cuisine on the water. For groups looking to get active on peaceful waters of the harbor, kayaks and paddleboards are a fitting choice.

Newport Aquatic Center

The Upper Newport Bay Nature Reserve is a peaceful retreat for those looking to get in touch with nature. Rent an outrigger canoe for a crew up to 36 and set out among peaceful waters and reed-filled islands teeming with life. Paddleboards are also popular here, for everything from “SUP yoga” to moonlight glow-in-the-dark tours with Pirate Coast Paddle Company.

City Cruises

Charter a yacht for an iconic Newport Beach experience and chase the sunset as you cruise past elegant harborside estates. Groups can enjoy everything from an elevated dinner experience to a lively on-board cook-off teambuilding competition.

Land

Pedego Electric Bikes

Touring on land can be just as fun with a fleet of electric Pedego bikes! Zip along coastal trails or sleepy cottage side-streets to meet up at the park for a picnic or enjoy a day at the beach. Peddle for an active afternoon or use the throttle and pedal assist features for a near-effortless cruise around town.

Tustin Ranch Golf Club

From golf tournaments to group games, strolling along the greens is a great way to bring a team together. Choose from coastal or canyon and wetland views and treat your group to a catered event steps from the 18th green.

Air

OC Helicopters

Charter a fleet of four-person helicopters for a jaw-dropping view from the dazzling coastline, including peaceful Newport Harbor and the Upper Back Bay. Relax in their Executive Terminal with some pre-flight refreshment, then stroll out to the tarmac to board your private copter. From a 15-minute tour of Newport to a thrilling lift to a top Southern California restaurant, this experience is one of the most “elevated” group activities in town.

Lyon Air Museum

Wanting your group’s morale to soar with a more grounded experience? Host a themed dinner in a 38,000-square-foot hanger featuring historic aircraft and classic vehicles. Groups can also arrange a grand entrance to their event from a private jet on the tarmac and watch the evening really take flight.
