Germany's Iconic Hotel Reopening and More Global Property News

Dresden, Germany’s iconic Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden reopened in mid-February following a year of renovations. The famous 18th-century building and its historical details were redesigned with care and attention under the motto, “The Return of an Icon.”

The reimagined property aims to offer comfort and state-of-the-art technology for contemporary and understated luxury experiences while staying true to Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden’s roots. Berlin-based interior designer Markus Hilzinger aimed to capture the hotel’s heritage in its redesign and created a “unique symbiosis” blending history with modern elegance. 

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden offers 180 newly designed guest rooms and 31 suites. Guests staying at the hotel can also enjoy the newly designed Das Palais restaurant, offering a wide selection of local specialties and international classics, as well as a private dining room for special events and occasions.

Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden features nine modern meeting rooms with views of the city as well as the Kurfürstensaal (ballroom) for up to 500 guests.

India

Hyatt Hotels Corporation is expanding its JdV by Hyatt brand portfolio, which recently made its debut in Southwest Asia with the opening of Ronil Goa in the popular state of Goa, India. The property is located on the iconic Calangute Baga Road in north Goa near key tourist attractions including the Chapora Fort, one of Goa’s biggest forts offering an unobstructed view of the sea and the Vagator, Anjuna and Chapora beaches. 

Ronil Goa offers 135 guest rooms with private balconies and designs inspired by the texture of shells, including fluted wall panels that are consistent across the boutique-style resort. The property also features two swimming pools and multiple dining options including Ronil Bistro, serving a farmhouse breakfast and classic comfort foods for lunch and dinner; Patrão’s, the “living room” of the resort with a 24/7 bar serving small plates and Goa-inspired beverages; and The Hub, featuring a swim-up pool bar, cabanas and a wood-fired oven.

Ronil Goa offers just under 5,500 square feet of event space, including the 1,600-square-foot Ronil Studio and its two prefunction spaces, The Loft and Ronil Garden.

The first Hyatt Place hotel in Indonesia, Hyatt Place Makassar, officially opened in February in the heart of Makassar, the largest city in the region of Eastern Indonesia and the coastal capital of South Sulawesi. The new hotel offers 145 guest rooms and encapsulates the Hyatt Place brand’s intuitive design, casual atmosphere and practical amenities.

Hyatt Place Makassar is strategically located on Sudirman Street within a mixed-use building also housing high-end apartments and is near the city’s bustling business district. Guests staying at the hotel will be surrounded by some of the area’s renowned tourist attractions and heritage sites such as Fort Rotterdam and Losari Beach, as well as local culinary offerings and shopping at Ratu Indah Mall or on Somba Opu Street, where you can find crafts, jewelry and other traditional local goods. 

Hyatt Place Makassar offers three event spaces, the largest being the 3,875-square-foot ballroom with a capacity of 200 guests in a round-table setup or up to 700 standing. The rooftop terrace, 31 Altitude, offers a stylish alfresco setting for up to 200 guests.

United Arab Emirates

Accor recently expanded its Mercure brand portfolio in the Middle East with the opening of Mercure Dubai Deira. Situated in the heart of Deira, Dubai’s “most evocative locale,” Mercure Dubai Deira is easily accessible, located 15 minutes from Dubai International Airport and nearby the Gold Souk Metro station.

The 152-room Mercure Dubai Deira offers a variety of room types including classic, superior, privilege and family suites. Guests staying at the hotel can easily access attractions like the Deira Waterfront Market, Dubai Creek, the Gold and Spice Souk and heritage museums.

Mercure Dubai Deira’s dedication to heritage is showcased through the hotel’s dining experiences, which encourage healthy and sustainable habits. Farmstead features a unique garden-to-table concept, indoor/outdoor seating and low-carbon-footprint meals sourced “steps away” from the kitchen. Blue Panda, the Pan-Asian Kitchen, blends Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Mongolian, Indonesian, Malaysian and Korean flavors.

Mercure Dubai Deira offers two meeting rooms that blend modern functionality with traditional aesthetics and can accommodate up to 35 guests. The hotel also offers large outdoor terraces that double as private event venues.
