IMEX Group has hired Gary Coombs as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Coombs’ role is a new addition to the IMEX Group and created as part of an operational review across the business. IMEX Group said the new position will ensure all team structures and roles underline the company’s future ambitions and vision.
In his new role, Coombs will focus on implementing the processes and structures needed to support the strategic direction of the organization, as well as coordinate the Operations, Marcomms, IT and Transformation departments to ensure delivery of the company’s vision and initiatives.
Coombs joined IMEX as chief information officer in 2021, leading projects to transform how the company utilizes technology. This included the launch of a new online platform designed to add further value to attendees’ participation at IMEX shows, including features such as business lead scanning for all buyers and exhibitors. Prior to IMEX, Coombs spent the majority of his career in the media and events sector, having held positions at The Economist, Ascential and United Business Media (UBM) plc.
