A Rocky Mountain Retreat, Culinary-First Hotel and More Renovation News From the West

Arizona

Built within the Tempe Butte and with views of downtown Phoenix, Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation of its guest rooms, suites and fitness center while also expanding its outdoor meeting spaces and lobby bar. The guest rooms’ new design reflects the resort’s desert surroundings with new lighting, outlets and workspaces.

The resort features over 45,000 square feet of total event space across 19 venues, the largest of which can accommodate 900 attendees. The renovations recently expanded the outdoor Kachina Patio, which is now able to accommodate up to 250 attendees.

California

This summer, Appellation Healdsburg will debut in downtown Healdsburg as the first new-build property from Appellation, a culinary-first hotel brand. The 108-room property will offer the largest event space in Healdsburg, 11 event venues and two restaurants designed for meetings and conferences.

These venues include Grange Hall, which can accommodate up to 260 attendees; Grange Terrace, which can accommodate up to 500; Orchard Table, which can accommodate up to 20; and the Rooftop Terrace, which can accommodate up to 200. The hotel will also feature a signature Charlie Palmer restaurant, lobby bar and agrarian rooftop bar, all available for private buyouts.

Nevada

The third-largest hotel in the world, MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, is undergoing a $300 million renovation project that will encompass all of the hotel’s 4,212 guest rooms and suites in its main Las Vegas tower. The first phase of the newly remodeled rooms will be available for reservations in early spring, with the full renovation project planning to wrap in December. The guest rooms now feature modern design elements and enhanced amenities inspired by the disco era. The project will also increase the number of suites in MGM Grand’s main tower by 111, bringing the total number to 753 suites ranging from 675 to 2,572 square feet.

The remodeled rooms will join a lineup of new dining and entertainment experiences set to open at MGM Grand in the coming months. These include Netflix Bites, a dining venue opening in early 2025 that will feature cuisine inspired by hit Netflix shows, and Palm Tree Beach Club, a tropics-themed day club opening this summer.

New Mexico

Located within the Santa Ana Pueblo, Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa completed a multimillion-dollar upgrade of its 350 guest rooms, featuring new decor and bathroom amenities. The resort’s corridors also received new carpeting and wall coverings.  
The resort also has eight event venues, with the largest space able to accommodate 1,400 attendees, along with offering activities such as horseback riding, traditional bread baking and other educational and cultural experiences.

A Rocky Mountain Retreat

The Home Ranch, a 3,000-acre, family-owned-and-operated ranch in the mountain town of Clark, Colorado, reopened as a luxury events facility able to accommodate events and corporate retreats beginning in June.

The property, located about three and a half hours northwest of Denver, can accommodate groups of up to 250 and offers activities themed around the Rocky Mountain West, including horseback riding, cattle driving, fly fishing, clay shooting, mountain biking, hiking, hatchet throwing, skiing, sleigh rides and more. The property also offers the ability to have 35 guests stay overnight in a selection of guest cabins, lodge rooms and a three-bedroom home.

The Home Ranch features several indoor and outdoor event spaces, including the open-air Belltower Pavilion with 2,000 square feet of covered event space, the two-floor Hahns Peak Barn with 2,250 square feet of space and the 12,000-square-foot Great Lodge, featuring a large hall, several smaller gathering spaces and a rooftop deck known as “The Hawk’s Nest.” The Great Lodge also has a commercial kitchen, pool, spa, fitness center and golf simulator.

The property also offers the ability to source ingredients from its onsite facilities such as the beef and cattle operations, chicken and duck coops, greenhouses and raised garden beds.
