The 7,700 UNITE HERE Marriott workers that have been striking in eight destinations across the country are planning their largest turnout actions with a day of mass demonstrations on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
According to UNITE HERE, the thousands of striking Marriott workers are expecting major political allies, North American labor leaders, LGBTQ allies and dozens of aligned unions from the public, private and trades sectors to join in the national day of mass action. The events will vary by location and include acts of civil disobedience, major live band performances, strike-city visits from some high-profile labor leaders in North America and the largest pickets to date in the strike cities.

UNITE HERE Marriott workers authorized the strikes nearly a month ago and it now the largest multicity hotel worker strike in American history, with actions in eight U.S. destinations: Honolulu, Maui, Boston, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, San Diego and Detroit. The workers are fighting for Marriott International to raise pay, for basic job security and for an end to what they deem unsafe workplaces.
