What's New in the Chicago Suburbs for 2019: Hotel and Event Venue Highlights

Chicago’s Northern Suburbs

The 301-room Hyatt Regency Deerfield, which has 20,000 square feet of meeting/event space, and the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago North Shore Deerfield, which has more than 7,000 square feet of function space, are both undergoing renovations that at press time were scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2019.

Lake County-based Great Wolf Lodge Illinois opened its doors in Gurnee in July 2018. The property features 414 guest rooms, dining options, an 80,000-square-foot waterpark and over 8,500 square feet of meeting space.

Chicago’s Northwestern Suburbs

A new Topgolf entertainment facility is currently being constructed in Schaumburg. The venue will have two private event spaces when it opens later this year.

The Pearl District opened in Rosemont in late 2018. The area offers group-friendly options including dining at Truluck’s Seafood Steak & Crab House, entertainment at Dave & Buster’s, and Rosemont’s first boutique hotel, The Rose Hotel, which offers 5,000 square feet of meeting/event space.

The Best Western GLo McCook is scheduled to open in 2020 with 76 guest rooms and conference space.

Chicago’s Western Suburbs

The 4,500-square-foot Barn at Blackberry Farms, a new event space in Aurora, Ill., was completed in January.

Also in Aurora is the Prisco Community Center, which opened its newly renovated fitness center in July 2018. The facility features meeting space for up to 520 people.

The Hilton Chicago/Oak Brook Hills Resort & Conference Center, which features over 42,000 square feet of meeting space, completed a $25 million renovation in July 2018 including updates to guest rooms, meeting space, public areas and restaurants.

The Drake Hotel in Oak Brook, which offers over 11,000 square feet of meeting space, is joining the Marriott Autograph Collection and finishing a complete renovation of the property in March. The over $22 million renovation includes a new restaurant, spa and an increase from 84 to 154 guest rooms.

Chicago Southland

Hilton Garden Inn Chicago/Tinley Park is scheduled to complete a $3 million renovation in April including updates to all 117 guest rooms and the hotel’s 2,100 square feet of banquet/meeting space.
