The Land of Lincoln is home to a couple meetings powerhouses that you shouldn't overlook. There is of course, Chicago, where the largest convention center in North America--McCormick Place--waits for major groups. Luxury hotels and properties at every other price point abound in the Windy City, along with award-winning restaurants, rich architectural history and so much more. Don't overlook its surrounding suburbs though, destinations in their own right, with more affordable price points.

Central Illinois beckons, too, home to the state capital Springfield and many historical Abraham Lincoln attractions that bring in associations, government groups and corporations from all over. Surrounding areas like Bloomington, Peoria and Champaign (home to the University of Illinois) all offer plentiful options for meetings and events, too.

Major Renovations Debut in Chicago, Detroit and Wisconsin

Chicago’s largest hotel and the largest Hyatt in the world, Hyatt Regency Chicago, completed a $150 million renovation, renovations to Courtyard by Marriott Detroit Downtown transformed both the interior and exterior of the hotel and the AAA Four-Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, a Marcus Hotels & Resorts destination located in Lake Geneva, completed a full renovation of its meeting and event spaces in May.
