Sheila Martines Pina, president of the Southeastern Massachusetts CVB (SMCVB), was fired Jan. 9 after failing to come to work for more than two weeks, according to local press reports.
Martines Pina, 50, an 18-year veteran of the bureau and also known as Matt Lauer’s co-anchor of Channel 10’s PM Magazine in the 1980s, reportedly suffered from alcohol abuse.
Reports claim the bureau’s decision was not related to an alcohol problem and that the organization will soon look for her replacement.
After repeated calls, the SMCVB declined to comment on the issue.
