A proposed $766 million expansion of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center (WSCTC) here is on hold for now, after state lawmakers asked that the center work with business and union leaders to write up a plan on how the expansion would create jobs, the Seattle Times reported.
Backers of the expansion had asked for $15 million in local hotel taxes to move ahead with the design and to secure an option on the land for the downtown Seattle project.
Instead, lawmakers offered $10 million with the caveat that the WSCTC will conduct studies on the feasibility and financing of the project and report back by the end of this year.
