Two Marriotts Planned in One in Bellingham, Wash.

The city of Bellingham approved plans to build a 204-room hotel that would consist of two Marriott hotel brands joined in one building.

Construction is expected to start next spring or summer, with opening slated for 2011.

The facility would include an 83-room TownePlace Suites and a 121-room SpringHill Suites with 121 rooms. Combined, the 204-room property would include more rooms than any single hotel in Whatcom County.

This is the first time these two brands have been put into one building, said Shaiza Damji, managing director of 360 Hotel Group.
