Flooding in northern Georgia has not affected meetings business, according to the Atlanta CVB.
“The convention center and our hotels are fine. The airport is open and operating,” said Lauren Jarrell, director of communications for the Atlanta CVB.
Some businesses are closing in the late afternoon so people can get home before nightfall. At press time, eight people have died in the flooding. Evacuations are under way in the northwest corner of the state.
State transportation officials said they will not be able to check on any damage to roadways and bridges until the rain stops falling, Georgia Public Broadcasting reported.
