Starwood Hotels & Resorts announced plans to open more than 20 new-build and conversion hotels in North America this year, including its 60th hotel in Canada and 40th in Florida.
Starwood’s new additions will include the upcoming openings of the Westin Phoenix Downtown and Westin Houston Memorial City, plus 16 new select-service properties, including its 50th Aloft hotel. They also include the recent addition of Boston’s Liberty Hotel to The Luxury Collection.
Also in the announcement, Starwood President & CEO Frits van Paasschen stated that the company has “shovel ready projects in metro markets like Chicago, Austin and San Francisco that are ready to move forward once financing becomes available.” [
