SAN DIEGO
Following an announcement earlier this week that three top officials at the San Diego Convention Center Corp. have resigned, Carol Wallace—the organization’s CEO for the last two decades—says she has no plans to vacate her position.
In a letter to the board, Wallace mentioned that her contract will be up on June 30, 2013 and she noted that she’s retained an employment lawyer. However, she denies that she’s resigning, though she has said that her future with the Convention Center Corp. is under discussion.
Last month, Wallace objected to a flurry of last-minute decisions to switch the center's sales and marketing from her public agency to the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, or ConVis, a private tourism promotion organization.
The SDCCC’s general counsel, Theresa McAteer is leaving the company and the job of Steven Johnson, a vice president and the organization’s spokesman, will be eliminated at year’s end.
