SAN FRANCISCO
The Hilton San Francisco Union Square has announced the completion of a $53 million redevelopment project that transformed 550 of the hotel's guest rooms and function space. The project incorporates contemporary design features that are modern yet timeless. The renovation is part of a larger scope of major projects by individual hotels above standard annual capital expenditures across the global portfolio of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide. Beginning in 2011, the projects currently total more than $3 billion during a three year period.
"We are happy to unveil these transformations to our business and leisure guests as well as meeting and event planners," said Michael Dunne, General Manager, Hilton San Francisco Union Square. "The enhancements enable us to deliver an even more impressive experience and ensure our position as a world-class destination and center-city's premier hotel and conference venue."
Major guest room enhancements include the addition of a second window to improve views of the city, new entry doors and wall insulation for sound-proofing. Additional improvements to the guest experience included new telecommunications equipment incorporating both wired and wireless internet access plus added conveniences of home such as sleek furniture, plush beds, mini-refrigerators, and contemporary bathrooms.
The hotel's 20,000-square-foot Continental Ballroom and 31 of the additional meeting rooms, ranging in size from 430 to 1,090 square feet, have been expanded and updated with contemporary design features. With the addition of the new 13,500 square-foot Golden Gate Ballroom Hilton San Francisco Union Square now offers 134,500 square feet of function space.
The hotel's public areas including the outdoor pool area were also renewed with contemporary furnishings and fixtures. In the hotel's corridors, guests can enjoy 11 art pieces created by noted artist, Pamela Nielsen, exclusively for Hilton San Francisco Union Square. The triptychs were commissioned by the hotels and inspired by the sunsets, sunrises and the memorable skyline of San Francisco.
Hilton San Francisco Union Square, just steps from Union Square, is one of the largest hotels on the West Coast with 1,908 guest rooms, and 134,500 square feet of meetings and special events space. The hotel offers a fitness center, outdoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, and the Urban Tavern restaurant, a modern Gastro Pub.
