SAN FRANCISCO
The Hilton San Francisco Union Square has announced the completion of a $53 million redevelopment of the hotel’s 550 guest rooms and function space. The property is one of the largest hotels on the West Coast, with 1,908 guest rooms and 134,500 square feet of meeting space.
The hotel’s 20,000-square-foot continental ballroom and 31 other meeting
rooms—ranging in size from 430 to 1,090 square feet—have been expanded
and updated with contemporary design features. Another ballroom,
spanning 3,500 square feet, was added. The hotel’s public spaces,
including the outdoor pool area, also were renewed with contemporary
furnishings and fixtures.
Major guestroom enhancements include the addition of a second window to improve views of the city, new entry doors and wall insulation for sound-proofing. Additional improvements to the guest experience also included new telecommunication equipment incorporating both wired and wireless internet access and added conveniences of home such as sleek furniture, plush beds, mini-refrigerators, and contemporary bathrooms.
The renovation is part of a larger scope of major projects by individual hotels above standard annual capital expenditures across the global portfolio of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the flagship brand of Hilton Worldwide. Beginning in 2011, the projects currently total more than $3 billion during a three year period.
