WASHINGTON, D.C.
SGMP Executive Director and CEO Charles S. Sadler has not only resigned from the association but has also been banned from all future chapter level and national SGMP events, and is no longer eligible for SGMP membership, according to a report from a meetings industry publication. He has held the position since 2008.
The change for the association—which is now being helmed by Acting Executive Director Rob Bergeron, formerly Deputy Director of SGMP—was actually effective at the end of June but the information was distributed to members in a confidential email that has somehow been made public, according to a report by USAE.
MeetingsFocus.com has learned that rumors of unethical behavior were swirling around Sadler for some time, though further details were not available. It was not clear whether Sadler will be able to retain his CGMP certification or whether he will be stripped of the prestigious Sam Gilmer Supplier of the Year Award, which he won back in 2002.
Prior to joining the SGMP staff, Sadler was a supplier, having worked as director of sales for Hyatt, Intercontinental and Starwood for close to 25 years.
