GREEN BAY, Wis.
A key player in a proposed expansion of the KI Convention Center, in Green Bay, Wis., could soon get new ownership and a significant facelift, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.
The downtown Clarion Hotel, formerly the Holiday Inn City Centre, has been placed in a court-ordered receivership—which is similar to foreclosure—under an agreement with its lender. Officials say the 146-room hotel is not closing but likely will be sold soon.
Baylake Bank vice president Jeffrey Miller said he expects buyers to take a serious interest in the 38-year-old hotel as soon as there are more tangible signs of progress on the KI Convention Center expansion.
The proposed KI Convention Center expansion, an estimated $20 million project, would, among other changes, connect the convention center to the Clarion.
