Hyatt Eyes Return to Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo.

Just seven months after lowering its flag at Crown Center, Hyatt has revealed plans to open a 225-room luxury hotel near the Country Club Plaza. The project would anchor an $80 million high-rise development, according to The Kansas City Star.

“We’re just really excited to have the opportunity to come back to Kansas City,” Mike Daood, vice president of development for Hyatt Hotels Corp. said. Hyatt operated a hotel for more than 30 years at Crown Center but it became the Sheraton Crown Center on Jan. 1.

In addition to the hotel—which would house meeting space, though an exact amount has not been announced—the four-level building would include a bar, an 8,000-square-foot restaurant and office space.
