DALLAS
In advance of the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, owners of two hotels near the SMU campus are financing major upgrades and improvements.
The Radisson Hotel Dallas Park Cities is undergoing an $8 million renovation that will be completed later this year, upgrading the hotel’s 295 rooms, meeting areas and common spaces. In September the hotel, owned by Dallas-based Trigate Capital and operated by Prism Hotels & Resorts of Dallas, will be re-branded the Holiday Inn Dallas Park Cities.
Also in September, the Lumen on Hillcrest Avenue will unveil a new pool, new rooftop terrace and new restaurant call The Front Room. Officials with the hotel have declined to reveal the construction cost. A construction permit from University Park, where the hotel is located, puts the value of the new building at $6.5 million.
Both hotels can expect to pick up business from visitors to the Bush center, which is expected to be completed in the spring. The center, on the campus of Southern Methodist University, includes presidential archives, a museum with permanent and traveling exhibits and an independent public policy institute.
