DMC Does Away With Paper

ORLANDO, Fla.

Scott Mifsud, vice president of operations of Just Right DMC, estimates that his company used to go through an entire ream of paper per program they hosted, but with their recent transition to paperless, Just Right is eliminating waste, saving money and trees, and setting a new standard for green events.

Mifsud explains how they no longer print out thick documents and individual welcome signs, instead using iPads to greet attendees at airports and convention centers.

While the technology is versatile and allows for quick changes, at first his staff reported that it was cumbersome to hold an iPad and a manifest at the same time. Mifsud responded by tweaking an existing event management app to handle real-time event check-ins.

“You can upload a manifest from anywhere,” Mifsud explains “The app will also sync with all the other devices in an airport, so if an attendee comes out the wrong terminal gate, everyone will still know he is checked in and taken care of.”

“The last program we did we had 400 arrivals and not a single sheet of paper,” he says.

Just Right has overseen events around the country ranging in size from 4 to 10,000 guests. “We’re a client based company, not location based,” says Mifsud, “We pride ourselves on being boutique and hands-on. It’s primarily about the relationships, especially since we travel with clients.”

The company is also implementing a switch to all-digital sales materials.
