Riviera Maya Resort Reopening After $15M Revamp

RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico

RIU Hotels & Resorts has announced the renovation of the Riu Yucatan, which it plans to reopen on July 27 2013. This resort, situated in the Riviera Maya, was the hotel chain's first property in Mexico and, since 1997, has been a favourite with families, thanks to its 24 hour All Inclusive service and vast range of activities.

RIU has invested over 15 million dollars in the renovation of this hotel which, together with the Riu Palace Mexico, Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Riu Playacar, ClubHotel Riu Tequila, Riu Lupita and the "Playacar" Conference Centre, forms the RIU complex in Playa del Carmen.

The Riu Yucatan, which boasts a seafront location, will present 507 rooms with new furniture and a brighter feel, thanks to the predominantly white and blue décor. It will also offer its guests fresher and more modern facilities and communal areas, in keeping with the vast green areas the property has to offer.

RIU's 24 hour all-inclusive service includes a wide range of dining options from the La Hacienda buffet restaurant to specialized restaurants for dinner: the Asian Shangay, the La Margarita Mexican grill, situated in the Beach Club of the ClubHotel Riu Tequila, and Sicilia, the new Italian restaurant.

Following the renovation, the hotel will offer three fresh water pools, including one new one and another with a swim-up bar. Guests will also have the use of sporting facilities as well as a gym, Jacuzzi and spa.
