PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas
Atlantis Paradise Island announced the start of a two-year property update with four major renovation projects in the works that will expand resort’s culinary, gaming, lounge and suite offerings.
World-renowned interior architect and designer Jeffrey Beers, has been brought on board for the renovations and redesign. The projects are said to be “just the beginning” of Atlantis' long term plan to enhance the property and guest accommodations, including a complete renovation and rejuvenation.
"With these modern and contemporary enhancements to two of our dining outlets, Atlantis Casino, and The Cove Atlantis, we continue to set a new standard to all our loyal and future guests," said Paul Burke, president and managing director of Atlantis, Paradise Island.
Atlantis Paradise Island conference facilities include the 50,000-square-foot Imperial Ballroom, over 40,000 square feet of pre-function space, 30 break-out rooms, three boardrooms and more.
Contemporary Culinary
Offering an array of experiences, Atlantis is also home to more than 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges. Beginning summer 2015, two of the resort’s dining spaces are undergoing renovations.
Dual renovations have begun for the family-favorite Marketplace restaurant and the nearby Plato's lounge. Marketplace encompasses buffet-style dining and made-to-order food stations, while Plato's offers casual seating for the serving of cocktails and light bites.
Once completed, Marketplace will reopen as Poseidon's Table and offer a buffet dining concept with an entirely refreshed design. Poseidon's Table will introduce new large, round booth and banquette seating, designed to accommodate 300 guests. This space will be enhanced by new fixtures and elements that emanate the notion of being in the sea—corals reefs and underwater air bubbles.
The interactive buffet and station area will be framed by stained walnut shelves and hand-blown bubble lighting and sconces with chrome displays and glowing lanterns suspended above the countertops. The signature buffet stations will be comprised of glass mosaic tiles, fashioned in a circular pattern, while the wooden-esque floors are complemented by white porcelain, marbled countertops.
Poseidon's Table is slated to open in late December 2015.
Lively Lounges
Plato's, the lounge located in the heart of Royal Towers, is undergoing a change in both layout and design. The transformed space will be themed with light tones for a beach-like atmosphere.
There will be four unique settings within the overall space of Plato's. The central bar will welcome guests to enjoy a drink as they relax in shagreen-covered chairs below the four large TVs sitting against an onyx backdrop above. Formed by two inwards-facing horseshoe surfaces, the bar will seat 40 patrons and be adorned by leather-wrapped panels with chrome detail.
Beyond the bar will sit a raised lounge area, an inviting space bordered by a wall of arched windows. Additional seating for 60 is spread among eclectic furniture with teal and coral-hued upholstery, while the lounge walls will be dominated by custom graphic, water-centric murals.
To the bar's left will be the brand-new patisserie decorated with simplistic vintage beach themed décor and will serve quick bites for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night snacks. The patisserie will present specially and delectably made pastries daily, created by Atlantis' resident chef.
Plato's has an anticipated opening date of middle February 2016.
Premium Gaming Salon
Atlantis Casino will introduce a new gaming experience Salon Privé, catering to the elite casino customer. This luxurious space within the casino will offer the latest in hi-limit slot machines set in an exclusive upscale setting within a modern and chic atmosphere. In addition, Salon Privé will introduce ultra-private gaming rooms for the most prestigious of table game players.
Salon Privé is in a secluded setting located on the main casino floor. Above the polished brass and gray-toned space hangs a chandelier constructed of more than 500 shards of Swarovski crystal.
Nestled amongst the high-limit slots and table games, a custom built 16 foot curved glass aquarium will follow the contour of the room. This aquarium will be filled with many exotic and rare fish.
More Sophisticated Suites
The Cove remains the most chic destination on Paradise Island. Held to the highest standards and known for modern amenities, all suites within the resort will be refurbished beginning in early December 2015.
The signature suites will receive new headboards, carpets, and colorful wall art, with the renovation slated to be completed by mid-May 2016. The resort will remain fully operational throughout the project, with a rolling renovation plan in order to minimize guest disruption.
