Hilton Worldwide launched a new marketing campaign giving Hilton HHonors members an exclusive discount on room rates by booking direct through its brand websites. The campaign is reported to be the largest in the company’s history and includes a “Stop Clicking Around” series of advertisements.
“Our customers don’t need to worry about sorting through a dizzying array of websites, enduring hundreds of clicks and wasting hours of time,” said Geraldine Calpin, chief marketing officer at Hilton Worldwide. “They can be assured that booking a room directly with us at any of our hotels doesn’t require extensive searching and price checking to find the best prices."
Other benefits being extended to HHonors members include additional points that can be used for free room nights, free Wi-Fi access and access to a special mobile app for check-in and more.
The “Stop Clicking Around” campaign is perhaps most significant as a challenge to third-party sites, such as Expedia and Airbnb, who are often seen as a threat to the more traditional hotel chains. And this announcement also arrives amid some controversy over the newly-proposed Stop Online Booking Scams Act.
