Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews was awarded $55 million on Monday, March 7, after the jury sided with her in a highly publicized court case against the management company and owner of a Nashville Marriott and Michael David Barrett, who secretly filmed and released a nude video of the reporter in 2008.
According to ABC News the jury found Barrett to be 51 percent at fault for the incident to the cost of more than $28 million, while West End Hotel Partners and Windsor Capital Group—owners of the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University—were found to be 49 percent at fault and asked to pay out more than $26 million.
“I’ve been honored by all the support from victims around the world,” Andrews tweeted on late Monday afternoon after the verdict was announced. “Their outreach has helped me be able to stand up and hold accountable those whose job it is to protect everyone’s safety, security and privacy.”
West End Hotel Partners argued that it should not be held liable for Barrett’s criminal actions. At this time it is unknown whether the hotel management company will appeal the decision.
