JACKSON, Miss.
Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed the state’s own version of a controversial law that allows individuals and institutions to deny service to gay couples, despite reports of lost business for North Carolina.
The news of Mississippi’s “religious freedom” law being put into action arrives as PayPal announced that it was canceling a $3.6 million investment in North Carolina. And last week, Georgia Gov. Nathan George announced that he would veto a similar bill, after several major companies threatened to pull business.
The New York Times wrote that the recent “developments in the Republican-controlled states reflected growing fissures between business interests and social conservatives.” Read more at the following link.
