DAYTON, Ohio
Guest rooms, meeting spaces, lounge areas and a restaurant will be part of a nine-month, $21 million renovation of the Marriott at the University of Dayton slated to begin May 15.
The hotel will remain open during the renovation, although some areas and guestrooms will be unavailable at times during the renovation, which is scheduled to be completed early in 2017. Thomas Hamilton Associates of Richmond, Va., will serve as architects for the renovation.
Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company, which manages the hotel, will oversee the project.
University of Dayton and Concord purchased the 9.8-acre property at 1414 S. Patterson Blvd. in 2014. Built in 1982 and last renovated in 2008, the hotel includes 399 guest rooms with nine suites, 13,600 square feet of meeting space, a full-service restaurant and bar, a fitness center and pool.
Situated on the University's expanded campus and located next to the GE Aviation Episcenter, the Emerson Helix Innovation Center and near Fuyao Glass America and University of Dayton Arena, the Marriott at the University of Dayton has hosted families, alumni, athletic teams and academic conferences.
"It is important a hotel of this stature remain in top condition. This significant capital investment will enable us to grow our position in this market and enhance our ability to attract additional regional business to the area," said Ben Haller, general manager of the hotel. "With the renovation, we will balance the familiar charms of the property with the modern conveniences and amenities today's guests expect."
