Kimpton Solamar announced the promotion of MarQuies Willis to associate director of sales.
In his new role, MarQuies will be responsible for business development, training and mentorship of the sales team, assisting with creation and development of new revenue plans and strategies, and expanding on business opportunities for the 235-room downtown hotel.
MarQuies started his hospitality career with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants in 2006 in the Washington D.C. area. Prior to joining Kimpton Solamar as a sales manager in 2014, he served as an area sales manager at Kimpton’s Rouge, Topaz, Madera and DC Palomar, where he handled the association and non-profit market segment for group business in Washington D.C.
In his most recent position as a sales manager at Kimpton Solamar, MarQuies focused on group sales in the education, engineering, financial, insurance, real estate and sports markets, along with international group sales.
“MarQuies’ passion for the Kimpton brand, coupled with his continuous success as a sales manager here at Kimpton Solamar make him a perfect fit for the new role,” said Shannon Foster, general manager at Kimpton Solamar. “We have consistently seen excellent work from MarQuies throughout the past three years and are looking forward to watching him grow and share his love of Kimpton with new people and groups.”
A native from Washington DC, MarQuies enjoys traveling, hiking, visiting history museums, listening to music, exploring the California coastline and spending time with family.
