7 Hotels Offering Haunting Group Programs for Celebrating Halloween

The time for Halloween haunts doesn’t last forever, but thanks to spooky programs at hotels around the world, your groups can experience chills and thrills even after trick-or-treating comes to an end. Following are a few properties offering scary group programs through mid-November and beyond.

1. Murder Mystery Sleepover and Witch Spells, New York City 

Home to unsolved 20th-century mysteries, The James New York – NoMad opened in 1901. Featuring an onsite Resident Witch, the hotel is transforming into NoMad’s Haunted Mansion this October with a Stay Spooked package including a true crime mystery-solving box for a blood-chilling teambuilding challenge and a suite converted into a horror movie scene with a floor-to-ceiling projector and selection of true crime documentaries. 

For witchy wisdoms, teams can book sessions with the hotel’s Resident Witch Shawn Engel, including a private on-demand Spell School that guides groups through the process of crafting spells and casting them like a pro. Group spell sessions with the witch are available all year, while the Stay Spooked package is available until mid-November. 

2. Midnight Haunted Doll Visits and Resident Ghost-Hunting Sessions, Key West, Florida 

Through an exclusive partnership with Haunted Key West, groups interested in paranormal investigations can stay at The Reach Key Westand book a variety of experiences, including an on-demand Ghost Hunter Kit available in the lobby to sweep for spirits with an EMF reader, pendulums and more. 

Teams can bond over a private guided ghost hunt through the island’s 117-year-old haunted firehouse full of sinister secrets and spirits. At midnight, dare to embark on a private haunted viewing of the world’s most haunted doll, Robert the Doll (who is said to still terrorize the island to this day!), at his Civil War fort with a bottle of Robert the Doll’s Voodoo Spiced Red Rum. 3. The World’s Largest Escape Room and Graveyard Smash, Orlando 

Perfect for Halloween-loving teams, Orlando comes alive for Halloween, from Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights (open until November 4) to the world’s largest and tallest escape room,Escape at Hilton Orlando, that transforms the entire resort into an interactive puzzle. The hotel’s “Room with a Boo” package, available year-round, includes the Escape Room Experience as well as a $50 daily resort credit.

4. Hocus Pocus High Tea and Candy & Cocktail Pairing, Chicago 

Chicago is a true crime-junky hot spot given its highest rate of unsolved murders, crime tours perfect for spook-seeking groups and being home to true crime authors like Gillian Flynn. This Halloween, Chicagoland’s The Drake Oak Brook, a secluded estate reminiscent of the iconic Clue mansion, is debuting a Halloween Candy & Cocktail Pairing group experience to sip near the eerily daunting steel fireplace, as well as evening Hocus Pocus High Tea served out of a witch’s cauldron in the eerie gardens, with themed pastries and more. Both experiences are available for groups until mid-November. 

5. Ghost Roast with Famous Spirit, San Diego 

Famed for hosting one permanent guest since 1892, Hotel del Coronado, Curio Collection by Hilton’s Haunted Happenings tour takes teams through Kate Morgan’s final moments to uncover the mystery of her onsite death followed by a group Ghost Roast s’mores bonfire, where they may receive a visit from Morgan herself to share her tale. Both the Haunted Happenings tour and Ghost Roast s’mores bonfire with Kate Morgan are offered year-round. 

6. London’s Tower of Terror 

As the site where the monstrous Jack the Ripper once roamed the streets and where the tale of wizardry began, London is the ideal destination for groups to uncover ghoulish tales and spine-chilling true crime scenes this fall. 

After-hours, the city comes to life with haunted tours through iconic-yet-historically tragic locations including the Tower of London, where guests are surrounded by ghosts of the sinister prisoners, and the underground vaults and tombs of the London Bridge, where the city’s gruesome history is reenacted in an interactive year-round show that was recently named the U.K.’s Scariest Attraction.
