MGM Resorts Heads to Washington D.C.

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.

The developers of National Harbor have announced that Las Vegas giant MGM Resorts International will operate a luxury casino at the proposed gambling site on the Potomac River.

Maryland has not authorized a casino in Prince George's County but MGM obviously expects to get approval for its planned project, an $800 million property.

The proposed casino in suburban Maryland would include about 4,000 slot machines and about 200 table games with shopping, restaurants and a luxury hotel. It is expected to take about two years to build.

Situated on 350 acres at the foot of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, National Harbor already boasts a half-dozen hotels, upscale stores and restaurants, and a marina anchored by the 450,000-square-foot Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.
