Olympian Meeting, a pioneer in integrating holistic wellness into the meetings and events industry, launched mindfulness sessions tailored specifically for the conference experience and available for free on YouTube and Spotify.

Unlike traditional meditation recordings, these Quick Focus Mindfulness Sessions include guided cues and dialogue that address the unique challenges of attending business events to help participants find calm, focus and clarity amidst the hustle and bustle of conferences.

Each session acknowledges the setting to offer practical advice on how to center oneself between sessions, during networking breaks or at the start of a busy conference day.

The two five- and 10-minute recordings, called Quick Reset and Deep Calm, respectively, have been carefully crafted to support attendees in recharging and refocusing during their time at conferences, offering a brief-yet-powerful moment of mindfulness, helping attendees manage stress, stay present and fully engage with the event.

In a landscape where wellness apps and services often come at a premium, Olympian Meeting wanted to make these Quick Focus Mindfulness Sessions accessible to all. By offering sessions on YouTube and Spotify, this ensures they are free to stream, making it easy for conference organizers to incorporate them into their event agendas and for attendees to use them at their convenience.

Taylor’s Trial Run

As Meetings Today’s resident wellness editor, and someone who’s tried many online meditations, I figured I would give these Quick Focus Mindfulness Sessions a trial run.

I’m a busy bee, so I opted for the “Quick Calm: 5-Minute Mindfulness for Conference Focus” session on YouTube. (One thing to note is that on both YouTube and Spotify, the Quick Focus Mindfulness Sessions can be a visual experience as well, as each video takes attendees through multiple serene settings in nature that change every few seconds, which I think is a nice touch.)

The brief guided mediation and breathwork session started off like most, setting a relaxing scene, asking listeners to find a comfortable seated position with their backs straight and feet flat on the floor. I closed my eyes, as the recording instructed, and began to focus on my breath.

Within the first 30 seconds of the recording, I was already reminded of my surroundings and asked to “appreciate the wonderful opportunities this conference offers.” I’ve never heard that in a guided meditation before!

About two minutes into the meditation, I was told to imagine myself surrounded by a soft, warm light that represents the positive energy and opportunities the conference brings. This moment is followed by an opportunity to reflect on the connections I’ve made or will make during the conference, picturing an old friend’s face and someone I am excited to reconnect with, and the joy that comes from seeing them again.

For me, this was the part of the meditation I enjoyed most, as the one thing that excites me more than anything else about conferences is getting to see industry friends again, and thinking of that feeling immediately fills me with joy, overtaking any stress or anxiety I may have felt before.

Then, I thought about the new people I’ll meet, shaking their hands, sharing smiles and starting meaningful conversations. With each breath in, I embraced “the excitement of forming new friendships,” and with each breath out, I was told to send out a welcoming and open energy.

The meditation then instructed me to focus on the business opportunities that lie ahead, visualizing myself in a meeting where I am confidently discussing ideas and forging new partnerships. Buzz words like “accomplishment,” “potential,” “creativity” and “inspiration” are used to create a sense of positive energy.

Before I knew it, the meditation was over and I was left feeling confident, relaxed and prepared to conquer a conference!
